Hello!
My name is Tyler, and this is my adoption story. To start off, my biological parents were refugees
from El Salvador! I was born August 11, 1998 in
Arlington Virginia. Immediately after my birth I was put
up for adoption. Fortunately for me, I was adopted three
months later by my parents Christopher and Sally. However, I wasn’t the only child they adopted. In fact, before me there were nine others they had taken in. Eventually, our family grew to 17 children — all adopted! I never really thought about where I came from, and it wasn’t until I was about nine years old that my parents told me I was adopted. To be honest, I was a little confused at first because I thought they were my biological parents. Now, I’m just so glad they took me in! I realize that biology isn't what makes a parent a parent, a child a child, or even a family a family; love is!
Adoption is seriously the greatest deed you could ever do during your lifetime!! If it weren’t for my parents, I don’t know where I would be today. If I had to guess, I would probably be in the system and may have never had the opportunity to be a part of a family. Adopting a child with special needs can be daunting at first, but is truly a great opportunity to give a child in need a home, and a family to be a part of. I often wonder what my biological parents are like, and what drove them to the decision of putting me up for adoption. I think it would be cool to try to find them, but I honestly don’t know where I would start. I hope one day I’ll get the opportunity to meet them, either in this life or the next.
